We Are Experts at Identifying Bees and Wasps

Do you know how to tell the difference between a bee and a yellow jacket? Many people don’t. Yellow jackets are wasps. Wasps have slender, smooth bodies, whereas honey or bumble bees have hairy, fuller bodies. Yellow jackets and other wasps have smooth stingers, which means they can sting several times. And their stings hurt!

Because of this, most people are afraid and do what they can to get rid of yellow jackets. There are a bunch of different types of traps and sprays, but they often attract more yellow jackets then get rid of them. It’s best to call us to help you with your wasp problem. We will get rid of them and spray to help keep them from coming back.

    We Save The Bees

There are many different pollinators in our world, but bees, by far are the most effective. Bees eat nectar and pollen. When they visit each flower, pollen from the flowers stick to the bee’s fuzzy hair. When they visit another flower, this pollen then gets shaken off as the bee moves into the flower to collect more nectar.

Although other nectar eaters also transport pollen from flower to flower, bees carry more pollen than any other pollinator, and effectively pollinate many different plants.

Pollination is important for plants like strawberries and apples to get fertilized and grow. This is why it is important for us to do all we can to help keep bees and other pollinators in business.

We, at Nest Pest Control, understand the importance of saving the bees. That is why we do all we can to relocate bees who have made their hives in unwelcome places. We make sure they can establish themselves in a new home with a local beekeeper who can help keep the hive healthy.

If bees have made themselves unwelcome in your home, give us a call today so that we can help save the bees.

      Did You Know…

Ants are cousins to bees. Ants, like bees, are part of the Hymenoptera order. The reason ants are part of this order is interestingly not because of their segmented bodies, but instead because of their wing shape. Another distinguishing quality of these insects is that they all have venom that is distributed by bite or sting. Ouch!

      FAQ

Here are some answers to some questions you may have about beehive removal, our company, or our other services.

Do you take care of carpenter bees too?
      Yes, we do!
Carpenter bees tunnel through exposed wood to lay eggs and raise their larvae. The first tunnels are not usually very deep and aren’t a concern for structural damage. However, the following year’s broods will continue to tunnel within the wood and can cause more damage, leading to some concern.
In addition to the tunneling bees, woodpeckers are often attracted to the larvae, and can cause additional damage to the structure, when trying to reach the insect.
Calling us to handle the situation is the best approach. Unfortunately, because the bees tunnel in the wood, we can’t rehome them. And to ensure all the carpenter bees are gone, it is safest for an expert to treat for them.
After treatment, the opening to the tunnel can be filled and sealed off, to keep other bees from reinhabiting the area.
How soon can you remove the hive?
Removing a hive may take a couple of hours. So, depending on our availability and your availability, we will be there ASAP. Sometimes same day appointments are available, so call now!
How much does beehive removal cost?
We base our price on a few factors:
      How large is the hive?
      Where is it located?
What kind of techniques are going to be used?
What kind of repair is needed?
We can give you a fairly accurate quote before we begin work. If there are any additional costs, we will make sure you understand why before proceeding.
      Who will answer my questions?
One of our helpful dispatchers will answer your call. Please ask as many questions as you need to make sure you understand how we operate and what to expect. Our expert exterminators also are happy to answer any inquiries you have about the pests and the treatment plan. We want you to feel taken care of and comfortable knowing you are working with the best.
